Commonly known as: Basswood, American Linden, American Lime, Lime
Tree, Linn, Bee-Tree.
A medium to large tree, Basswood is native to America, found throughout
the eastern half of the U.S. It is common in Arkansas and eastern
Oklahoma.
Basswood frequently has two or more trunks, and sprouts in a circle
from a stump
Honey derived from basswood flowers is strongly flavored and regarded
as the best in the world hence the name "Bee-tree".
Basswood Rocking Horse Properties
Basswood has a straight grain and fine texture. Colour varies from
creamy white to brown.
Basswood is light and tough. Its excellent carving detail and finishing
qualities make it ideal for our basswood rocking horse projects.
Basswood Rocking Horses Availability
American basswood is available to us from eco friendly ethical
sources, however in cases where supply is limited we can offer poplar
as a replacement which has many of the same qualities.

We go to great lengths to ensure that the
basswood supply for our basswood rocking horses comes from Forrests
Forever and/or FSC
(Forest Stewardsip Council) certified eco-friendly ethical suppliers.
We do not supply basswood rocking horses that have been built from
other basswood species that may be endangered.
