  Mahogany wood rocking horses

Botanical Name: Khaya spp.

Commonly known as: African Mahogany

Mahogany Rocking Horse Properties

Mahogany has a straight, tight, interlocking grain. Colour varies from reddish brown to light brown.

Mahogany accepts a broad range of finishes making it ideal for our mahogany rocking horse projects.

Mahogany Rocking Horses Availability

Sources of high quality mahogany from eco friendly ethical suppliers may vary.

In the case where eco-friendly supplies of mahogany are limited, we can offer Andiroba and American cedar as replacement. These woods look much like mahogany but are a little lighter in colour, however like all wood they darken with age.

Mahogany Rocking Horses and The Environment

Mahogany is an exotic hardwood, and some species of mahogany are endangered in some parts of the world.

We therefor go to great lengths to ensure that the wood supply for our mahogany rocking horses comes from reclaimed sources or Forrests Forever and/or FSC (Forest Stewardsip Council) certified eco-friendly ethical suppliers.

For more details of our ethical policy, please see the quality care and ethics page.
